Hey, it’s Deb!
I get it, Valentine’s Day creates a lot of pressure for all of us, especially you guys. Shouldn’t be that way. It’s a day. One lousy day.
You shouldn’t feel like you have to pay half of your mortgage to get through it with flying colors. Simple gifts that show some creativity or effort go a long way! Want some fail-proof suggestions? Got you covered.
BIRCHBOX.COM
Get your favorite lady a box of the latest trends in cosmetics, etc and it is sent to her via snailmail every month! A 3-month subscription=$30.00! Even better, order online, no going to the mall! She receives the notice via email and waits for her fun surprises every month!
OPEN-WHEN ENVELOPES
Write some handwritten letters (12 or so) and put them in plain envelopes decorated with ‘Open when you’re having a bad day…’ or ‘Open when you need to know how much I love you….’, and make them all different. Shows you spent a few minutes and put some effort in to their gift.
XO-SHAPED DOUGHNUTS
Doughnut shops cash in on the romantic holiday by offering these. Who doesn’t love a sweet treat? Same goes for cupcake shops. Grab their favorite flavor and they box it up for you!
DIP YOUR OWN CHOCOLATE-COVERED STRAWBERRIES
Easy, right? Grab a package of strawberries at the grocery and some dipping chocolate (found in the baking aisle, AKA as chocolate bark) and get to dipping. She will love it!
QUICK DO-IT-YOURSELF CANDY JAR
Fill the jar with lemon drops and attach a note that reads, ‘Pucker up, Valentine!’ Annnnd, you’re done.
CANVAS PHOTO (Deb’s recommendation)
Nothing saves the day better than a canvas photo ready to be put on the wall. Greg did this for me one year. He selected our favorite photo, sent it online to Walgreens and they had it printed and framed as a canvas WITHIN AN HOUR. I repeat: ONE HOUR. And he looked like a hero. We still get asked about this photo 2 years later!
Good luck, guys. Happy Valentine’s Day!
XO,
Deb
